- If you can, host the holiday dinner at your place. Then you can make several dishes that cater to your low carb Christmas diet.
- Eat a lot of meat and snack on nuts and cheese. Chances are, nobody will notice.
- Bring a low carb side dish like "fauxtatoes" and deviled eggs. This way, you can have meat and a low carb side dish.
Speaking of making your own dishes to bring, if you search the Internet, you'll find a bevy of low carb Christmas diet recipes right now. The things we already mentioned are favorites, but we found recipes for low carb eggnog, crab-stuffed mushrooms, Atkins stuffing, even sweet potato casserole with marshmallows and pumpkin pie! Yummo!
Let's say you caved in and ate some carbs, completing foregoing your low carb Christmas diet. We know your low carb diet leaves you feeling drained, and the holidays can too, but try to exercise more than usual during this time to burn the carbs. (Remember that the first 20 mintues of any exercise burns carbs, and anything over and above that burns fat.) If you aren't exercising yet, this might be really hard, but it might also really be worth it.
