Low Carbs Food
Do you know what kind of food is low carbs food? You're about to find out!
The Short List
When you go on a low carb diet, you're probably struggling at first to figure out what kind of food is low carbs food. Here's the short list:
- Meats
- Eggs
- Some cheese
- Tofu
- Protein shakes
- Protein bars
- Sugar-free foods (like sugar free Jello, for instance)
- Sugar-free beverages
So what do you do when you get bored with this somewhat limited variety? Get creative! There are lots of things you can do with meat, eggs and cheese--sometimes in the same dish! Spice things up with spices.
Shake it Up
The first two weeks of your low carb diet will likely be the hardest because the number of grams of carbs you're allowed to have is at its lowest. But after that, you get more. (Not a lot more, but more.) By the time your first two weeks are done, you might be getting bored with the foods you're allowed to have. But that needn't be the case if you have some good recipes on hand. Not only that, but food manufacturers are coming out with low carb bread, low carb ice cream, low carb chocolate, low carb milk and more. Most of these foods have more carbs than you'll want to spend in your first two weeks, but later on they might be a nice alternative.
Not only that, but the protein shakes you can buy pre-made are probably really starting to grate your last nerve. To make it more interesting, why throw some protein powder, low carb milk, berries and ice in the blender for a different kind of protein shake. Or, buy chocolate protein powder and use that with some low carb milk and ice in the blender. The result? A much thicker protein shake that actually resembles an actual "shake."
